Standing Figure of King Djoser
The oldest life-size royal statue known: King Djoser seated in state, wrapped in the cloak of the jubilee festival, his name carved beside him so the statue could stand in for the king forever.
Djoser’s architect Imhotep built the first pyramid for this king — and the first stone statue tradition came with it. Stand at the plinth line and look up: the scale is the message.
